So Your BIA is Having a Board Election…
June 15, 2022
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This session will focus on preparing for your BIA Board Elections while providing you with great best practices. A detailed toolkit will be provided to all registrants. Mike Bureau and Jennifer Pereira will present best practices from the City of Ottawa on the Election process for Ottawa’s 19 BIAs. Michelle Groulx will bring this session together with a review of the Board Orientation package the Barrhaven BIA created in anticipation of onboarding their new board. Each Professional Development Session for 2022 will provide registrants with a toolkit and you will receive a Board Election toolkit at the end of this session to help you build a smooth election cycle and BIA Board of Directors.

BIA Governance 101

The September Session will provide BIA Staff with a Governance Session which will help them onboard your new board and Councillors. OBIAA ED, Kay Matthews will provide an overview of BIA Governance as a Local Board of Council. This session will help BIA staff to understand the Provincial rules of engagement under the Municipal Act and how you can best provide training for your new Board. Each Professional Development Session for 2022 will provide registrants with a toolkit and you will receive a Governance Toolkit as a part of this session.
