Municipal Election Toolkit
Across Ontario, Main Streets are the beating heart of our communities. They are where businesses grow, neighbours connect, and visitors experience the unique identity of a place.
Infrastructure renewal is essential to keeping our towns and cities functioning. Roads, water systems, accessibility upgrades, and streetscape improvements are investments that ensure our communities remain vibrant and resilient for generations to come. Yet, construction can also place significant pressure on the small businesses that bring life to these spaces.
This Construction Mitigation Toolkit was created to help municipalities, Business Improvement Areas (BIAs), and community partners navigate these challenges together.
The strategies, templates, and examples included in this toolkit are designed to be adaptable to communities of all sizes, whether a Main Street is supported by a BIA or directly by the municipality.
Successful construction mitigation is not simply about managing disruption. It is about collaboration, communication, and ensuring that the businesses at the heart of our communities continue to thrive.
When municipalities, BIAs, and business owners work together, construction becomes more than a challenge. It becomes an opportunity to build stronger, more resilient Main Streets.
