BIAs, The Heart Of Our Community

The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel will host the 2015 National BIA Conference in Toronto’s beautiful Waterfront area – April 19 to 21, 2015. In support with the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA) and the Toronto Association of BIAs (TABIA), over 250 National BIA ambassadors (made up of BIA Staff, volunteer Board Members, Municipal & Ministry Staff and elected officials) will gather in Toronto to support each other through communication and networking to improve BIAs across Canada.

In past years, Toronto has played host to the National BIA Conference, this year demonstrating their strong waterfront community and improvements to the city’s development for upcoming National events. The theme at this year’s conference is “BIAs, the Heart of our Community”, which represents Heritage, Economy, Arts, Revitalization and Tourism; these are important categories which reflect BIAs and what they are trying to achieve.

Toronto represents a hub where people from all walks of life can come together and celebrate just about anything. With 2.5 days of activities, both social and professional, attendees have many opportunities to exchange ideas and garner insight for their businesses. On the docket for the conference is a luxurious dinner cruise aboard the beautiful Mariposa. This social gathering is happening on Sunday night, which is the pre-cursor to the full day of networking, workshops, and walking tours through local BIAs, all taking place the following two days. As well, attendees are able to sign up for a tour of the remarkable Ripley’s Aquarium where participants can rub shoulders with the underwater elite.

In attendance from Calgary, Alberta is keynote speaker Brent Barootes, President and CEO of the Partnership Group – Sponsorship Specialists™, Minister Ted McMeekin from the Government of Ontario’s Municipal Affairs and Housing, and our impressive list of speakers, members and vendors from across North America.

The 2015 National BIA Conference was supported by its partners, Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA), Toronto Association of BIAs (TABIA), Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), The City of Toronto and Yellow Pages Digital & Media Solutions Ltd.
