A pandemic is a hard time to launch any business. On the other hand, some businesses are better suited to the circumstances than others. Pivot Consulting & Coaching in Thunder Bay fits that bill. As an experienced mental health therapist and coach, owner Rochelle Lee offers a range of services many of us need like never before.

Pivot Consulting & Coaching launched in April 2020, weeks after Ontario’s first state of emergency was declared. Rochelle engaged with the Digital Main Street (DMS) program. She applied for and received a DMS Digital Transformation Grant and has worked with her local DMS team to build a compelling online presence that will attract clients.

Top priorities include better understanding the profile of her ideal client and regularly publishing on her website and social media channels the content that will best resonate with them. For 2021, two of her goals are to increase her base of coaching clients by 50 per cent and overall client referrals by 50 per cent.

“The generosity and opportunity of the DMS grant has helped me gain traction as a new business owner and transform my website to ensure that it is reaching the traffic needed to build my business,” Rochelle said. “DMS is an invaluable resource that has assisted me in getting services to those in my community who need it, when they need it!”

The Digital Main Street program has been further extended through funding from FedDev Ontario and the Ontario Ministry for Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade (MEDJCT). The new round of funding includes $42.5 million from the Government of Canada’s Regional Relief and Recovery Fund, a national recovery initiative delivered by Canada’s regional development agencies. With $7.45 million from Ontario, this combined federal and provincial project will strengthen Ontario’s economic capacity for innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration, and will promote the development of a strong and diversified Ontario economy.
