Jeanette MacDonald
Alex Ling Lifetime Achievement Award
Her passion for small business, place-making and the economic prosperity of downtown neighbourhoods, have been the main pillars of her career. A powerful advocate for best practices within the world of BIAs, Janette has contributed signicantly to long term projects, with programs being replicated by other BIAs across Ontario. Her contributions to the city of London and the BIA movements are commended, replicated and supported by BIAs across Canada and the USA, along with various organizations in the Place-Making Industry.
Congratulations Jeanette!
Edward V Christie
Pinnacle Award- 2020
Born in Collingwood, Ed Christie is a true hometown hero. After a career in sales with Chipman Chemicals, he returned to his home town in 1976 and purchased a downtown building and the men’s wear business it housed. Within the first year in business, he worked with the town and Chamber of Commerce to convince his fellow downtown business people that a BIA was the answer to the future success of Collingwood’s Downtown. By 1977, the Collingwood BIA was established. Ed continued to lobby his business community and property owners regarding the importance of designating the downtown core as a ‘Heritage District.’
As a member of the Local Architectural Advisory Committee and the BIA Board he was a driving force and instrumental in promoting and creating Collingwood’s Downtown Heritage District under the Ontario Heritage Act.
Congratulations Ed!
